Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design, and modify vehicle systems in the automotive retail, service, and repair industry.
Entry Requirements
Those undertaking the Diploma of Automotive Technology must have completed an automotive Certificate IV qualification in one of the following disciplines or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
- AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
- AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling.
Career Outcomes and Pathways
Individuals completing this course will be qualified for employment as a master technician or senior diagnostics technician in a Dealership, Franchise or Repair workshop working on light vehicles.
Delivery and Assessment Options
Delivery and assessment for this qualification is completed via distance learning through on-the-job training. Participants provide evidence of skills and knowledge by submitting completed job cards (repair orders), photographs / videos and 3rd party reports from an Industry Expert / Supervisor.
RPL for Upgrading Older Qualifications
The Learning Professionals provide a simple process for you to upgrade your older qualifications to the current qualification by means of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Majority of the older units of competency that make up the Certificate IV are equivalent, allowing you to receive direct credit transfer. Some minor gap training may be required for some units.
